Can we just take a moment to talk about the incredible U of U vs. Oregon State game last night? As most of you know, I love me the football. I have been going to the U games with my G-pa for as long as I can remember and I can honestly say this was possibly one of the best games I have witnessed in my 23 years on this earth. I know most of you were there or watched it or whatever, but I just need to recap for my own personal satisfaction…
I am a die hard U fan but I have to admit that I took my seat and was prepared to admit defeat when Oregon State got the touchdown in the last 2 minutes and 11 seconds of the game. Our QB (and O-line in general) had not been having a stellar game, especially in the second half, and I figured it was all over. I had screamed and hollered all I could but it seemed as though my efforts to cheer were futile. Suddenly, out of no where B.J. and the boys managed to pull out a play that took it to the end zone. Really??? Where did that come from and where has it been the whole game? I could not believe my eyes! But could they actually get the two-point conversion to tie up the game? and if we did tie it up, then what? Then, in what can only be explained as an act of God there was pass interference called on the first failed play and we got a second chance at the two-point conversion! A second chance that was successful and tied up the game!! Miraculously, the glorious Utah defense held Oregon State to a 4-yard rush and obtained the ball once again. As you can imagine, Uncle Rhemus and I (along with pretty much everyone in the stadium) were screaming and jumping like you could not believe. After running the clock down to 1 second(1 second people!!) and nearly giving everyone in the stadium an aneurysm- the man, the legend: Louie Sakoda entered the game to kick a beautiful field goal and by doing so took the Utes to 6-0!!!! My throat still hurts from yelling and I could not get to sleep from all the adrenaline pumping through my veins.
I would like to take this time to officially offer my hand in marriage to Louie Sakoda. I was already pretty sure I would marry you but after last night there is no doubt in my mind. I know you probably have plenty of chicks to pick from, and I am sure some of them are pretty skanky, but I am pretty freaking cool and I know how to bake really well. I will keep my anger towards Brian “which way should I throw the ball?” Johnson to a minimum. I don’t want to sour such a joyous event with my bitterness about his reaction time.
P.S. Maybe BYU isn’t the only team that the Lord blesses Austin Collie. Suck on that!
